The Problem with Prospecting & Recruiting with Social Media

This October will mark 10 years (2005) since I entered the network marketing arena and my life took a crazy detour into the world of entrepreneurship, deep personal development and experiencing more negativity than any human should have to endure.

The good news is that my story in this industry has a happy ending.

What To Do When Your Upline Doesn’t Want You to Use the Internet to Build

A very common question I get from people learn the cutting edge online recruiting methods I teach, has to do with a concern about being scolded by an upline for “choosing a different path.”

For example, I was on a webinar a couple months ago and a woman asked how she should deal with an upline so entrenched in the old way of thinking, she’s afraid the upline might be critical and/or disagree with building online.

In some cases, there are leaders who will understandably monitor every move their reps make, watch their stats, review volume and call and email on a daily basis to see who we have prospected recently or showed the plan to.

You see, I know what I do works and once new reps and customers start rolling in for you, they are going to have questions and most likely, be negative about building the business differently than how they did it back in the ’80s or ’90s.

And this is a position I empathize with, because my upline, (not my company), once threatened me and said that I would lose my business because I was using online marketing methods, they didn’t approve of.

Why Top Recruiters Are Almost NEVER Top Earners

This past week, I had a wonderful conversation with a top earner in a fast growing network marketing company, named Laura.

Laura is actually part of a small elite group of top producers, who recently started working with Elite Marketing Pro to help take their business building efforts online and supplement the incredible success they’ve had offline.

As I asked her questions about her background and on how she built her downline organization – including her building philosophy, the type of people she recruits, how she trains new people as they come in, the timing of promotions she runs , etc. and to my surprise, I found myself silently nodding my head ‘yes’ to everything she was doing in her business.
